KeepBTLocal Cooperative is excited to announce that we will be holding our annual meeting on June 14, 2014. The meeting will be held at the Edmunds Middle School Cafeteria (275 Main Street in Burlington) at 10:00 am. Doors will open at 9:00 am, and we will socialize until the formal meeting begins at 10:00, providing coffee and a light breakfast. The agenda will include a business meeting with a recap of the past year, nominations for directors and a couple addresses by telecom and cooperative folks.
As an enticement for folks, we ask that everyone planning on attending, please RSVP by emailing [email protected] as soon as possible. Every RSVP that we have received by each of the next four Fridays will be eligible for a weekly drawing for a telecom themed prize that will be presented at the annual meeting. So….the earlier you RSVP…the more chances you have to win!
Keep BT Local Co-op Hosts Update Session with Expert Brian Lippold
When: 2-4PM, Sunday, June 14.
Where: the Champlain College Miller Center at Lakeside, 175 Lakeside Avenue , room Number 101/102–Immediately to the right of the main entrance.
Parking is available in lot behind building. Signs say parking by “Permit Only” but that does not apply on Sunday.
What: The session will provide an update on the goals and objectives of the Keep BT Local Co-op and a presentation from Brian Lippold, of Casco Bay Advisors, a seasoned veteran in the field of telecommunications who is advising the Cooperative on a plan to acquire Burlington Telecom. A Q&A session will follow the presentations.

Lippold’s firm, Casco Bay Advisors, LLC, based in North Yarmouth, Maine, advises telecom service providers and municipalities in New England on strategic and business planning, and the technical and operational approaches to serving communities while remaining competitive in the changing telecommunications landscape.
Lippold is developing a Business and Acquisition Plan for the Keep BT Local Co-op to create a community owned, local telecommunications cooperative to own and manage Burlington Telecom in the future.

Please note that there are two vacant seats on the current Board of Directors. There will be nominations for these two open seats at the Annual meeting. The vote will take place after the annual meeting with all the nominees and their bios posted for all members to take part.

The meeting will take place at the Champlain Senior Center, (part of the McClure Multi-Gen Center), 241 North Winooski Avenue, between Decatur and Archibald Streets. Once at the Center, follow the signs to enter at the side door on the right, or driveway side of the building.
Parking is available directly behind the building and on N. Winooski.
An agenda will be announced by early December.

We Submitted a Bid — What’s Next?
A Membership information meeting on June 22 at 7 PM (location to be announced).
The City’s next step is to narrow the field to between three and five finalists and to present their bids to the council sometime in July. Our bid places our community in the position of being in the driver’s seat to ensure we have long-term community equity in this enterprise. But all supporters are now needed to inform our representatives and our neighbors.
Come with your questions, and come prepared to volunteer to help us spread the word about our bid.
