I support the Burlington Telecom Co-operative for several reasons. First, our society is long past the point where broadband access can be considered a luxury. It is a necessity much like the other municipal services we depend on and support. I want to see Burlington Telecom locally owned and managed by those that use the services. I want Burlington Telecom to be a business, like City Market, that operates with a clear set of guiding principles and that reinvests profits in the community it serves. I want to have a local, viable option so that when large corporate providers come calling I can say ‘no thanks’. I have been a subscriber since the day Burlington Telecom became available in our neighborhood — the product is excellent, the price is fair and the customer service is unparalleled. Why wouldn’t I choose to own that company?
